Pros

Good Skills to learn and have under your belt, equipment delivery customer interactions. Building good friendships with fellow employees. There are some good managers out there somewhere

Cons

Work life balance, highly stressful, bad management, truck drivers are not respected by management. Management care more about (as one manager put it) "up to $100,000 annual bonus" than their employees. Worked for 10 years, starting management was great. Then every1 to 2 years they would change management. Merges with companies way too much .They will take on the managers of the other merging companies, and those managers will always put the other employees first before United rentals employees. They also do not care how far you are away from your job. They will move you to any location that benefits the company. After 10 years and the effort I put in, another manager from another merging company laid me off. Not even considering I have a family to take care of. The self-centered district manager that looks like he takes steroids. Did not care about me or how many years I've been with the company. I was just a number. Favoritism is highly practiced in this company. If they do not want you, they can use a little excuse to fire you. " Taking off your safety glasses to clear the fog is a safety violation". They will not hesitate to fire. Now that I have left the company, I have never experienced a company similar to the way United rentals treated me. I'm so glad I opened my eyes to see how wrongfully I was treated at this company. Overall, this is not a stable company. If you want to stay long-term in one location. They put the company before the employees or should I say they're investors. While our raises are $0.15 or less a year, and we are up front face to face with angry customers, while they are in their offices. If you have a complaint, they will tell you it's your career choice. My advice is not to stay with this company long get enough experience and get out.

Pros

Excellent benefits and a plethora of tools ans support. Company truck for sales reps at $75 per pay period. It’s a very well known company so you get a lot of business from national accounts. If you can get your foot in the door, it’s an experience that’s worth it. No regrets.

Cons

Due to their size and like so many publicly traded companies, there is a huge disconnect on the expectations. My manager did his best but you could tell his bosses were asking for unachievable results. My sales manager was clueless at her role and no sales experience to lead a team. Things she would ask from us were counter productive. Not anything I couldn’t deal with.
