Pros

1) Great job on paper 2) They have such a high turnover you'll never stop meeting new people (this year the Head of Sales, loads of Admission Consultants, the whole books department, and marketing/ops/tuition managers they had at the start of the year have all left ). There are only about 15 people in the whole company. Loads of the good reviews on here were put up by people because the company was struggling to recruit anyone and made you, and then they were fired or quit. 3) Can work from home although they'll always say it'll only be a few days a week and then it's only when you check your contract that you find they want you there full time and are hoping you don't notice.

Cons

1) Require 'Hubstaff' which takes screenshots of your screen all the time you're at work including during your lunch break and the senior staff then share screenshots of people's private messages with each other for gossip 2) Underpaid and they always argue invoices and pay people late or not at all 3) Unethical because they charge £150 per hour for tuition and pay their tutors as little as £10 an hour for some jobs because they can 4) The cheif executive micromanages everything (badly) while blaming everyone else for their mistakes. 5) No work-life balance. They keep putting jobs out saying you must be 'not a clock watcher' which is code for the fact they don't let you turn your work phone off evenings or weekends at all (in your contract) and they'll call you whenever they like and expect you to drop everything and work.

Thank you so much for your review- all insight is really helpful for us. We do ask our team to come into the office, but this is always pre-agreed and also in each individuals' contract. We'd always hope that everyone reads their contracts thoroughly before signing, and flags any queries or concerns with HR so that it can be addressed. We are sorry that you didn't feel this could be done. We're really sorry that you weren't able also to let us know if your work-life balance was having a negative impact. There is no expectation for the team to work beyond their contracted hours and 'drop everything.' The Team is diverse and we all live our separate lives, so we have to make sure that work-life balance is maintained. :) Hubstaff is utilised by many Companies to help the Team 'see' that everyone is working the contracted hours when we are working remotely. Fortunately, Hubstaff has privacy settings which does not allow admin to take screenshots of screenshots on the screen, and all confidential data is hidden. It is not part of the Team culture to gossip- and we're too small of a Team to do so! The per hour rate is sadly, misinformed, and we're sorry that you have been given that impression. The Programmes offered by the Company not only include 1-2-1 support, but also courses, online materials, seminars, books and other resources as part of the whole Programme. Tutors are competitively paid and we are rolling out even more services and support for our amazing tutors this year. We really are sorry to read these thoughts and are happy to conduct a further meeting with you with regards to your concerns and misinformation.

Pros

- Payment is on time - Some resources are available

Cons

- Potential parents: the site says that they rigorously interview all their tutors, but that is not true. For myself and a bunch of other tutors, merely submitting a CV was enough to get us registered on the platform - they didn't even speak to us over a call. - They pay £23 an hour, and I guess that they charge at least £70-100 an hour - this is really crappy pay given that, after they allocate students to tutors, management basically has no useful function at all. - No cancellation policy for tutors, so your student can be a no-show and you get no compensation at all. This only encourages students to be irresponsible and is extremely disrespectful to tutors and their time. - The resources they provide have errors in them and are badly written because they're just written by university students with limited/no experience beyond doing the given admissions test themselves for low pay - Management can often be unresponsive despite them being responsible for liaising between us and students if there are any issues

Thank you for your honest review! We've worked on the cancellation policy and improved this to make it equally fair on both student and tutor. We've also set up a new tutor communications line, and a new tutor team training, perks and pay rates to make sure that our tutors can develop and support each other too.

Pros

Steady stream of students You don’t have to hunt for clients. They fill your calendar for you. Reliable pay + punctual payments They pay on time and the admin side is professional. Structured materials and training Good if you prefer following existing frameworks rather than designing your own. Reputation helps with getting students Parents trust the brand, so they’re less demanding when starting with you. Easy entry If you’re at a top uni, you get in quickly. No crazy interview or vetting. Good for building basic tutoring experience Especially for MMIs, UCAT, personal statements, etc.

Cons

Pay is mid once you factor in unpaid work After prep, marking, messaging, and admin, your real hourly rate drops. Rigid structure Their templates and approach can feel restrictive if you already know how to tutor well. Students vary wildly Some are great; others drain you. You don’t choose your cohort. You’re replaceable Large tutor pool = they don’t invest in you personally. Time creep “Flexible” isn’t really flexible. Messaging + feedback means you’re essentially on-call. Little autonomy over your teaching style You’re expected to follow their programme, even when you know a better way. Not impressive on a CV It’s okay, but not meaningful if you already have stronger academic/clinical experience.
