Pros
Exceptional people. I’ve worked with many awesome Umbelers, past and present. Umbel has always hired smart, talented, hard working employees that care. I’ve met a lot of awesome individuals and made some very close friends working at Umbel. Healthy work/life balance (especially for a startup). Lots of flexibility to work remotely or on an adjusted schedule. Good benefits (paid health insurance, unlimited vacation, progressive paternity/maternity leave). Opportunity to work in an exciting vertical with awesome clients. Book club, Umbelitas speakers, taco teams, board games, and new hire pecha kuchas are some of my fondest memories. Great opportunity to challenge yourself and develop your skills. More than likely you’ll take on responsibility outside your core job description. If this scares you, than Umbel is probably not the place for you but if you're adaptable, like a challenge, and willing to try new things, you’ll gain a lot of experience and exposure to different areas of the business. Every Friday morning, the whole company gets together to eat breakfast tacos and share company updates. The meeting is streamed live for those that are remote so everyone can participate. There are some exceptionally funny individuals at Umbel, that always make these meetings entertaining.
Cons
While professional development is encouraged, it’s very much on the individual to take on their own development.
