Pros
Various variable working options and benefits
Cons
The application process was very protracted. They kept making and breaking appointments for the first phone screening and when i did eventually get a call the person from HR was almost 25 minutes late and we had to re schedule again. Similar issue getting the virtual interview, make and break, but not as bad as what was about to come. The face to face interview was scheduled over and over again at peak traffic times and being near London that was never going to be practical. I had already mentioned it would have to be around lunchtimes as i could shift/extend etc, but no the requests for end of day kept coming, (after all outside of ultra administration we have to work) with 2 exceptions, both which Ultra cancelled last minute, one for an extended lunch as one of the interviewers was celebrating and one cancelled as the new ceo called a "church hall meeting" In amongst all of this were terse un professional emails from ultra re not being able to schedule the interview, implying it was all my fault (despite them cancelling and explaining about the time constraints) I did eventually get an interview which was nothing special, hour long, generally simple questions. I was not allowed to see the work area which was strange and had not ever seen that before. I was offered the position literally the week before Christmas, i had already explained i was away over Christmas and this was slightly delayed due to sickness and when i came back i had been sent a very terse and borderline unprofessional email screeching about why had i not sent the forms back, then the chaos started. The administration over getting security clearance was farcical! . After weeks of waiting i got sent a message about mistakes on the clearance form, which i had corrected and returned over 2 weeks previous. It turns out they had actually processes the incorrect forms! Then after over two months they said they could not verify some of my previous vacancies. I called my two previous employers and they said they had not been contacted! So Ultra had not made the effort and were simply looking for an easier option! HR were always looking to off load blame and to simply "box tick" I have had experience of Ultra for decades and it's not good. A previous interview the interviewer was almost 40 minutes late, with no reason and were keen to get it done asap to the point i could not ask any questions. After all lunch time was close! A previous offer for a vacancy the salary was a joke! and they vehemently opposed disclosing the salary before hand. If you look at other reviews you can see a trend of issues with Ultra, poor salaries, unwilling to quote salaries before interview, revolving door recruitment, getting employees to the point of tears, the list goes on. If you don't already know the parking situation at Greenford is terrible and their are only spaces for senior management. Peasants have to park on a housing estate and walk in, relatively few spaces btw. Most stressful time dealing with an employer in 25+ years.
