Pros

I like who I worked with and I really enjoy the programming and hands on technical work. Hours are pretty flexible. Can work from home if I need to.

Cons

Often have to work a little longer than I intended, have to take turns with an on-call tech support cell phone to keep with me at home. So I’m probably not getting paid as much as I’d like per hour because of the number of hours I put in. Also starting pay was low and I’m not sure my raises have kept up with inflation. Though the most recent raise has gotten closer.

Entry-Level. Diversity. Easy, repetitive work duties. Casual work environment. 8-12 hour shifts 5 to 6 days per week are typical, result in higher pay checks for the work. Day Shift, Night Shift.

Cons

Over-staffed department leads to poor and unfair division of work duties. Unclear quality department standards lead to interdepartmental conflicts. Unclear quality department standards lead to poor peer review. 8-12 hour shifts 5 to 6 days per week make up a poor work/life balance. No on-boarding or orientation process to guide new hires. Unpredictable job environment. Indecisive and unenthusiastic management. Poor employee retention & poor company culture lead to cliques and exclusion.
