Pros
Training, health care, education benefits. VA loans.
Cons
The senior personnel in charge are all idiots. 80% of the people in the Navy are low class and poorly educated individuals. It does not matter what you do or where you work, there is an unbelievable amount of BS that you must deal with on a day to day basis. Yes the education is nice....but getting an education while in the Navy is next to impossible...yes free health care sounds like a wonderful idea, except its free, which means its horrible. The training is decades behind the technology you are expected to use. Overall, the Navy is not a place to work if you are used to a high class, professional workplace and co-workers. If you plan on joining the Navy, make sure you are prepared to have no family life, and to have most of your possessions stolen by the people you work with. My advice to anyone who is considering joining the Navy is....don't. Go to college, get a degree and if you still really want to join, become an officer. Going enlisted is the biggest mistake you will ever make. I consider myself to be very smart and capable, and therefore I will get out of the Navy and get my degree and never look back!!
