While the Navy base pay doesn't amount to much in the early stages of your career, as you make rank and accumulate time in service, your pay increases over the years. Once you qualify for BAH, your comfort level goes up much more.
Cons
Earning promotions can take a significant amount of time, depending on the job selection at entry and the number of personnel at a given rate/rank for a period of time.
