Pros
Educational benefits and for individuals that came in when I did, the retirement plan. Days off (but only with certain jobs/career fields). Steady paycheck and access to numerous benefits.
Cons
Limited control over parameters that affect promotion and promotion consideration. Biases that are harmful to individuals careers and the overall health of job knowledgeable and proficient individuals. Too much emphasis on everything outside of how well the job is done and all the aspects that encompasses.
