Pros
You aren't just working for a salary, you're working for something bigger than yourself. The majority of the people are terrific to work with because they usually have a strong sense of duty and responsibility as well. Very few companies will reward a young adult with the responsibility that the Armed Forces will.
Cons
It is not a democracy! Since our country is at war right now, our 'downsized' force rotates people back and forth on overseas deployments a lot. Depending on your career type you might spend a third of each and every year on deployment--which is pretty hard on family life.
