      Pros

      Sense of pride in why you're working. Esprit de corp. Good opportunity for training, education, and advancement. Also a very good opportunity to see the world. The retirement can't be beat.

      Cons

      Long hours with rare compensatory time off. Long times spent away from family. The compensation, while not bad, is not to the same level as the private world.

      Pros

      Laid back environment get your work done and you can coast.

      Cons

      Appraisals are off of the buddy system more often than not i.e. if you went to the same college as your supervisor you’ll likely get good scores if not good luck.

      Pros

      Getting 2.5days of accrued leave per month is nice, which adds up over time. You can request leave whenever within your schedule and it won't be denied.

      Cons

      Not too much structure when it comes to squadron training. Depends on your squadron but leadership can really determine your experience.
