Pros

No micromanagement. Decent pay/benefits for the expected work. Job security in being a test engineer. OT opportunities when salary non-exempt. If you take initiative, you have the opportunity to expand your skillset across teams(e.g. RF and EMC). If you want a day off, no trouble in getting it.

Cons

No one is held accountable and continuous improvement is not enforced. Instead of finding long term solutions, the easiest solution is utilized until it becomes a problem again and then the cycle repeats itself. This puts pressure on the ones who are forced in to stepping up due to poor planning. Management only knows what they see on paper and does not make the effort to support test engineers properly or even get to know them. This is detrimental to quarterly reviews and bonus allocation since they can distribute how they see fit rather than actual performance. Underappreciated if you are a high performer. Project Handlers push their work onto test engineers.

Pros

Strong brand reputation and credibility in the marketplace. Excellent opportunity to gain experience in sales, compliance, testing, certification, and regulatory industries. Friendly, knowledgeable, and collaborative colleagues who are willing to help each other succeed. Good work-life balance compared to many sales organizations. Stable business with diverse industries and customers. Professional development opportunities and exposure to complex customer challenges.

Cons

Typical large-company bureaucracy can slow decision-making and execution. Internal processes and approvals may require patience and persistence. Organizational complexity can sometimes create challenges when navigating cross-functional initiatives. Career progression may occasionally depend on understanding and adapting to corporate dynamics.
