Pros

Made some wonderful lifelong friends! It was the people that kept me there as long as I was. If you can become a part of the right team you will enjoy most days. I actually enjoyed the work I was doing and the ability to help and partner with others.

Cons

Leadership, management, opportunity, values and mission are non existent. If they do exist, very few will embrace and share them. - there are some pretty prejudice and racist decision makers, the good people frown upon it but it does still go on (even within hiring ) - will boast it is a national firm but everything is silod and their is no drive to create a national firm with process and procedures that create efficiency - like one review said, get your experience and move on. There are so many places to go that offer a culture that embraces diversity and growth.

Pros

Close to home, great work-life balance after busy season because there's nothing to do. You will get the big picture and see a lot in an audit.

Cons

No work is assigned to you, so even in audit you will do tax work. You'll spend your days hunting for work, and then you volunteer to learn something new and they won't let you. Then you get yelled at for not having more billable hours. You pretty much have to sit at your desk don't talk, and if you have no people skills / willing to bring people down you'll move right up. The office is very toxic and HR is practically useless. They pride themselves on paying overtime, but they give you way below market vacation days. You also have 120 hours baked into your salary of overtime, so you get stuck working 14 hour days in busy season. 6 days in your first year and 9 days in your second year. You spend weeks on end with next to no work because your job is not transactional. They are better off giving 21 vacation days like every other decent firm does and doing away with the banked overtime because you end up getting less days.
