Pros
The pay I received was really good. Basically, it’s why I stayed as long as I did. And at the time I was there I was able to work remotely full time. I had some great coworkers with in my actual team.
Cons
They waste money, resources and time, using inefficient processes. I worked really hard when I was there, and made sure I took every opportunity to learn, grow, and do my job the best I could. But they lay off good people, and keep others who do nothing and get away with it. I honestly don’t know how the organization even functions for as long as it has. It’s so leadership heavy with leaders who have no clue what their worker bees do. And also have no clue how to lead. Why should they when their wallets are fat off of our hard work? Also- they are making it a point to remove remote work from the line up. Which means don’t expect to get to work from home if you get a job here. Why? Because they need their employees to pay for parking. They need to micromanage. Everything always felt unorganized, my work had no meaning, it was busy work. They need 20 people to make one action happen in any and every operational process. It’s mind blowing how wasteful my time and energy was spent. The stress I felt doing work that was meaningless, got me sick. Also, If you are white- and straight. You will be treated poorly. They only want people who fit their diversity agenda. God forbid they hire people who can actually do the job over hiring people for diversity. You know you can actually have both in a fair and honorable way. But here they choose to see you for what you look like and identify as, not how you can actually do the job. Diversity can be achieved without being racist to a majority of people who don’t identify with universities diversity ideals. The propaganda is insane. Don’t dare speak up, in truth, either. You WILL be blacklisted. Also, everyone seems blissfully unaware to how gaslit they truly are by the UC. Terribly frustrating.
