      Great Start as a Working Student Nurse - Nurse Extern UCHealth Employee Review

      Pros

      I worked on one of the larger inpatient units. As a nursing student, try and get one of these ACP jobs to improve your skills and hopefully get hired as a full RN upon graduation. The team was very supportive. There were safe ACP-Patient and RN-patient ratios. Epic is a great EHR (in comparison to Meditech). Lots of training. There is a value in opinion in all levels of staff. Charge nurses and management were easy to approach.

      Cons

      Short staffing occurred about a third of my shifts. Hospital can be a really busy maze. Parking can be a major issue for non-shift workers.

      I absolutely loved volunteering here. The program was organized, and it made me so happy to bring a smile to people's faces.

      Cons

      Sometimes we did not have much contact with the heads of the volunteer program.

      Pros

      High Acuity patients Maintain Skillset Job security

      Cons

      Too many patients in a day and not enough time to spend with them. Minimal admin time to manage InBasket and patient needs. Frequently need to juggle a full and complex patient schedule with urgent test results and care coordination. Have to use personal PTO to cover holidays and any time the clinic is closed due to circumstances outside of our control. (weather, power outages, etc) Annual performance Bonuses are now being determined by online patient feedback scores.
