Pros

Good salary level, global reach and related travel. Interesting work and smart people.

Cons

Pretty nervous culture due to near constant layoffs of small numbers of people. UBS respects all-purpose managers to do reorgs, hiring & firing. They do not prioritize subject matter expertise outside core functional areas, e.g, investments, financial analysis, etc. So, those hired to lead functional areas with special expertise, like marketing for example, are dispensed regularly. Other firms contain layoffs within defined periods, UBS, in my experience, lays people off on a regular, rolling basis. Some people referred to it as a "firing factory" where upper managers, despite lacking functional expertise, are repositioned over functional areas regularly to strip them and move on to the next.

Pros

Great people mostly, approachable, and willing to guide, good reputation overall, good wlb

Cons

1. Poor compensation, close to 0 bonus for a front office role 2 years in a row 2. Little budget, have essentially 0 events for marketing and distribution purposes 3. Chaotic management, esp towards young talent, keep letting good ppl go because of merger, can literally hear ppl complaining about it everyday 4. Huge bureaucracy, hard to get anything done In all wouldn't suggest joining at this moment as long as you have comparable offer elsewhere
