Pros

My previous job (where I worked for far too long) was very stuffy and corporate-y, and the vast majority of my long-time colleagues hated the place due to rampant politics and overall mismanagement...and so getting laid off from that ambition-killing, soul-drainer of an employer was a blessing in disguise because it led me to Tryon Solutions. Tryon has a well-earned reputation in their space, which is supply chain companies that sell and service Warehouse Management Software (WMS), and I like being amongst the talented folks that bolster that reputation. I very rarely see politics, and the few shameless politickers I've seen either left on their own or were drummed out. Most arguments are ultimately about ideas and direction, rather than political maneuvering or other power struggles. Tryon Solutions is a small company and while this means you are sometimes called upon to wear multiple hats, it also results in more easily getting things done without a bureaucracy and/or departmental politics getting in the way. The work culture is healthy and family-focused, and this begins at hiring. You can also usually get off work on-time and, outside of an emergency or two that warranted extra hours, I haven't seen a situation where there was undue pressure to stay late. Sometimes we get people that are new to the technical side of the WMS world, and they aren't thrown to the dire wolves on day one but instead go through an internal training program which amply prepares them to work on customer projects. If you are an experienced WMS engineer looking for family time or if you have a solid technical mind and are in the market to start a supply chain execution career, I recommend giving Tryon Solutions a look.

Cons

They don't pay top-dollar (so in-turn you don't work "top-dollar hours") and like anywhere loaded with talented technical folks there are a few grizzled WMS veterans you will have to go out of your way to "earn your stripes" with on certain teams.

So thorough and honest...thank you! We're proud you feel comfortable telling your story in detail, and the part about talking to the CEO himself speaks volumes. Over time, our culture has embraced more of a safe, collaborative team environment where questions are welcome and necessary for learning and growth. Additionally, we conduct salary research and make adjustments annually based on findings, and we've recently established and adjusted role ranges. We take your comments to heart...without them, we could not have improved so well. Thank you!

Thank you for your candid feedback! This is true for those higher up in our small-but-expanding company, especially as we look to our next phase of growth. We have ideas for more opportunities for our leaders as we start scaling, but we are in that "in between" stage; we understand that can be frustrating. Once the pieces come together and growth steadies, we will focus on next steps for those who supported Tryon's success.
