Pros

Brand with a lot of history and heritage, they don’t care so throw a lot of stuff away and you can take it for free, majority of staff are nice

Cons

No longer British brand as they say, all the brands are owned and controlled very tightly by their Chinese owners, micro management, nepotism is rife (specially by management) all their kids and friends working there, lack of leadership, Chinese management from Honk Kong in a completely different time zone so almost impossible to do anything in timely manner, pass the buck type culture in the company where no one takes responsibility and passes on the blame, very little team spirit atmosphere, people just make business critical decisions in Retail systems without knowing the repercussions then they blame the IT guys (standard), management specially the Chinese don’t have the technical knowledge necessary and they just play the lost in translation game and do what they want anyway, they dont play well together with people not in HK (they know everything), managers in HK are just business people without an ounce of technical knowledge, in UK they give the impression that it’s a UK/Europe based/managed company and they are independent region from the Chinese, but they don’t make a move without Chinese permission, even get a door fixed. Management just tell you want you want to hear then sink and twist a knife in your back. You express an honest well formed business opinion, if people feel attacked or take it personally (for some reason) people will hold a grudge and try to get you fired or make your time there miserable. The office is crap and old, the material and infranstructure is worse, they don’t want to change, the business is failing, they hemmorage money and when shown where problems are they make you feel like your a grass and make you work 10x harder to fix something that would take 5 minutes. At least 80% of the suits are not even made there anymore, they get an external tailor to make them and just put an expensive price tag on it. HR are horrible, not bad people, they’re just two faced, they’ll say whatever suits them at the moment.
