The children were treated wonderfully until the parents turned their backs and left the premises. None of the practitioners actually engaged with the children, so how are there supposed to develop effectively without an adult modelling language and behaviour etc? Twice I experienced incidents where children were hurt and I was the only one paying attention to prevent the incident from escalating, whilst the other nursery nurses were having a chin wag. Only two other practitioners seemed to generally care about the well being of the children other than myself. Same toys were out every day with limited choice for children and no set activities were ever in place.

I love working with children and their abundant energy, but the working conditions are just awful.

Firstly the pay is disgusting for the amount of work that is expected of you. Most of the time paperwork is difficult to complete in working hours. Very long hours most days were near 10 hours and wasn't paid for overtime. Was made to feel like an uneducated idiot even though I have a degree and experience within Primary Schools. Resources are bad to say the children are suppose to be learning. I was left over ratio most of the time with no training and first aid training. Disgusting.
