Pros

- Decent career advancement - Employees can get exposure to interesting conversations around renewable energy development and operation at an early stage in their career. - Work hours - very consistent 40 hour weeks. Summer hours working half-day Fridays were great.

Cons

I don't think I realized how much I needed to leave until I left. The workplace is extremely toxic, especially from upper management. The company is always hiring, but it is not growing. That is because not only is this an extremely difficult place to stay employed long-term, the business also struggles to get out of its own way when it comes to actually making money. I know all jobs have unsavory aspects to them, but the number of times I saw management berating people publicly or heard of them insulting people privately is pretty astonishing. The latter of which has especially been the case for young women who work/worked here.

Thank you for taking the time to share your comments, we regret you had such a negative experience, and are happy that have found a place that better fits your needs and expectations. There is no question that our work on the front lines of renewable energy development is complex and uniquely demanding, and we understand that it is not for everyone. We also know that we have high expectations about quality and volume of work. We do our best to be very clear about that from the beginning, and will make sure to emphasize that in our job postings going forward. If someone makes careless mistakes, misses deadlines, or fails to follow procedures, they will be told. Some people may find this hard to cope with. However, our goal is to find the right role for everyone within the business, and we actively seek to retrain and redeploy staff as needed. Your comment about young women surprises us. Slightly more than half of our staff are women, and about half of those are young, having started with us as one of their first jobs out of college. Several of the women in senior roles in the company started out in junior administrative roles. Turnover has definitely been a challenge for us as for many employers these past few years. However, since 2017, we have grown from 5 employees (who are still working with us) to about 25 and we aim to grow more in the coming months. Also, we manage four times as many assets as we did then. We are very proud of our growth and excited about the future. Thank you for the time you spent contributing to that progress, and for your feedback now. We will do our best to act on it constructively, and wish you the best of luck in your future endeavors.

Pros

Decent amount of time off including 12 days PTO (accrued for hourly employees), 10 days Sick, Paid Holidays, half days on Fridays for summer and a week off for winter. Coworkers that stay long enough are super supportive and grow to be like family. Some of the most amazing and talented people you can work alongside with. Work life balance respected. Pay & Salary is transparent. Healthcare/401K/Vision/Dental/Parent Leave/ Bereavement Leave/Life Insurance benefits

Cons

The turnover rate in this company is insane. They can hardly keep employees and many do not last past a year. You will see coworkers in tears (myself included) from the behavior of the managing director including being cursed out, insulted, mocked, shut-down, or because of micro-aggressions. Your advancement in the company essentially depends on the feedback of one employee in the leadership team who will single-handly decide and judge your capabilities despite being unable to understand basic content your role involves. Furthermore - when I say they struggle to keep employees, I sincerely mean it. Expect to constantly take on 2-3 roles beyond your own, in departments you’re not involved in or for roles above your position, with no extra compensation for months on end.

Thank you for taking the time to give us this valuable feedback. We agree that the team is amazing and talented, and we are glad that you were happy with the company’s compensation, work-life balance, and culture of transparency. We recognize that the work we do is demanding and are sorry you weren’t able to find a long-term place in the team. Turnover has definitely been a challenge, especially with newer members of the team. It’s upsetting to hear that you felt disrespected and dispensable. We do not have any record of someone speaking up about this in our HR records, including from the exit interviews. We realize it can be hard to say so directly to your employers, so we will be implementing an anonymous suggestion box to make sure that kind of problem is addressed sooner. Thank you again for your feedback, and best of luck with your future endeavors.
