Good community and lots of opportunities for formal and informal mentorship. Learned a lot in one summer and this position set me up for other great career opportunities in the future.

Not many real cons, but as in intern you don't always see the seedy underbelly.

Flexible schedule. Lots of employees set their own schedule/hours (some employees worked 4 - 10hr shifts). It's a perfect job for parents of young kids (who often get sick). No issues with sick time and/or punching a clock and being hounded for being 1 minute late. Incredible sense of autonomy (Employees are allowed to manage their every day tasks - no micromanaging)!

Pay is not very competitive, however, the position gives you the skills necessary to achieve a higher paying position at other companies. Ie, it's a good entry level position for new graduates who don't have any laboratory experience. Learn a lot and push yourself to do your best while you're there, and you can move on to other higher paying positions in a few years.
