Pros
The job is stable relative to the industry. Good days and bad days. Decent workers for the most part.
Cons
Low to mid-level management are improperly selected without verification of leadership skills. There are no employee feedback loops if concerns come up. There is an impenetrable wall between executive leaders who want positive work experiences for employees and managers/front-line supervisors who are not trained, lack leaderships skills and are not committed to healthy worker relationships. There is no accountability for leaders who break policy. There is no way for employees to report concerns without retaliation. Low level supervisors micro manage. Mid level managers are disconnected and apathetic. Executive leaders are mindful but blocked from 90% of employee experiences due to mid level management practices and silos. Engineers are not field trained. Technicians have little to no buy-in and no agency to participate in organizational improvements. Aging population which will cause a significant loss of knowledge. Poor handover practises. Poor onboarding practices. Systemic management failures due to all of the cons described above.
