Pros
I joined TradeWing as one of its earliest employees. I've worked closely with the founders and been a part of the company's growth from a very early stage. Here are some of the top reasons I like working here:
- The people: everyone is down-to-earth and humble, but the group of people that work here are exceptionally talented. That applies across the board for all functions (i.e. engineering, sales, operations, leadership)
- The founders: both founders do a great job balancing the work that's required to grow the company, while also making sure the culture doesn't become toxically focused on growth. The company has done a good job striking a balance between working hard and developing a fun culture, where expectations are realistic. This starts from the top.
- The opportunity to own your work: Given the stage and size of the company (as well as just the culture) there is real opportunity to take ownership over your work. I personally find that exciting, and it's great experience that a lot of companies say they offer but is not always true.
Cons
Here are some potential cons:
- The company is growing. Part of what that means is that things can change frequently and the idea of a regular work week doesn't quite exist. If you're not comfortable with ambiguity, this could be a turn off.
- Building from scratch. This goes hand-in-hand with the other point, but a lot of the work is going to be foundational. This means that there needs to be a level of comfortability "taking the path less traveled". Most of the paths don't exist.
