Pros

I worked in many organizations since, and Destination Toronto (formerly Tourism Toronto) has been one of the best. Not sure if it's changed since, but at the time I received great perks, got to attend fun events, and the people were some of the nicest and most supportive.

Cons

Projects moved at a slower pace. Didn't see much room for upward growth in my position at the time.

Pros

- Great experience to learn a lot in a short amount of time - Amazing training and on-boarding - Small team which allows you to get to know everyone well and take on more than an intern would - Reward good work with opportunities. If you’re always raising your hand, they will give you more challenging work - No micro-management. Will have check-ins weekly and more informally throughout the week - Very receptive to feedback and questions - Not only are the open to new ideas, but they will implement them as well - Lots of perks outside of work like being invited to attend events on off hours (if you want to) like restaurant openings, exhibit openings, etc. - Hybrid work environment (hybrid in this case is only going on if you need to, there are no set mandatory amount of day that you have to spend in office) - Great opportunity for networking as you meet a lot of people in the city and US media - If you're someone looking to just do media monitoring, paperwork, and run coffees, this is not the job for you!! You will be treated just like another member of the team and be expected to contribute as one

Cons

- Due to it being a small team, there isn’t much room for growth unless someone quits or is fired (career opportunities come from leveraging networking with people outside of the organization that you meet during your employment) - Things move very quickly and there are often numerous things happening at once. You have to be extremely organized otherwise it can be easy to feel lost - In order to succeed in this role/environment, you have to be the type of person that is always raising their hand and has something to bring to the table (I liked this but I can see how this could be intimidating for some)
