Pros

Chuck is mostly a nice guy, with a lot of sales experience and possesses a helpful training manual. You are selling sports here. Potentially lucrative commissions. Decent office in a good location.

Cons

You will face a LOT of rejection. Usually takes several months before your first sale. Not an easy sell...especially with such a quiet office. 2/3 of the desks are empty...there's a reason. Senior sales guys frequently talking about people they think will quit, which makes for a negative atmosphere. Shady+Deceptive practices. Manager tells you to do one thing, then contradicts himself.

Total Sports Publications Response

Total Sports Publications welcomes feedback from current and former employees in an effort to constantly improve or business and culture. On average new sales people make their first sale between weeks 4-6. that said, we do not consider the time to someones first sale as barometer to future success and have plenty of great sales people that would agree. TSP prides it's self on being a positive and transparent organization and comments to the contrary are inaccurate. There is always room for improvement and our work is never done. Thank you for your comments.

Pros

Great work environment. Its independent and competitive but we all still feel like a team. Very comfortable place to start your sales career. The training that you receive from management (Charles Broadhurst) is unsurpassed. I had never worked in sales before this job and now I feel like I can sell confidentially. Also you're associated with some of the top names in professional sports which makes the job even easier and more enjoyable. The pay and other incentives are really great, especially compared to 99% of other sales jobs in the area. It isn't all work and no play either; we get to have relaxed days where we participate in office basketball pools, watch march madness, take a day to go watch a game, fun holiday parties, etc.

Cons

If you've never done inside sales the whole idea of sitting at a desk and being on the phone all day can take some getting used to. The turn over rate made me worrisome at first but I've come to see that the fact is people that this job and its just not for them, not everyone is cut out for sales.
