Pros

Flexible hours. I was able to come and go if I had appointments - no one was micromanaging my time. (arguably, I had zero management...)

Cons

Tosoh had an extremely sexist culture towards women. Personally, I had consistent no-shows from my manager for 1 on 1 meetings. Many of my colleagues would never respond to my emails. Meetings (often early 6 AM meetings) were canceled less than an hour prior. I was not consulted about hires that I would directly work with and also happened to have subject matter expertise to help with. Annual performance reviews were a joke. I would get a glowing review but somehow continue to score low, resulting in a low bonus. Zero mentorship from managers with zero emphasis on professional growth. Goals were impossible to meet as they would constantly switch. I was thrown out in the field and among customers, with zero support multiple times. Very toxic culture - in some cases, people's private matters were put on blast in very inappropriate ways. Continuous hiring and promoting of upper management, with little emphasis on hiring people that would actually get the work done.

Pros

Very good work life balance and relatively chill job for a sales role. I would say the $/effort of work is very good. The team is also very supportive and eager to teach inside sales as they lean very heavily. Because the organization is relatively small, it is a great place to be early and learn a lot as you would have more responsibilities otherwise at larger organizations. Tosoh is a good place to be if you are not eager about growth or career development. These things can be both good and bad depending on your stage in life.

Cons

Pay and a lack of growth opportunities. While the role is low stress, often times the lack of upward mobility and low pay is difficult for a sales role. Sales attracts uniquely ambitious and money hungry people. As a result, career/salary stagnation can be frustrating. This results in high turnover due to more opportunities. The variable comp is also very stable however does not promote growth due to capped commissions and either full or nothing commissions. Management can be difficult at times due to a lack of transparency and favoritism. Furthermore, some product lines are neglected while others pushed. Often times products that are pushed have issues that must be remedied before it is truly market ready.
