Pros

They make it seem like they care about employees wellbeing. They’re willing and eager to train employees.

Cons

Gathering all 80 of the companies in a meeting and telling them that they will be letting people go because the company cannot afford to keep them. Then telling people that those that will be let go will receive an email in 5 minutes. This wasn’t necessary. This frightened all employees because no one knew if they would be let go or not. There’s no sense of job security at this company and management is not on one page. Please do not work here. If they knew they were experiencing hardship then they shouldn’t have hired so many new workers in the beginning of the year. They way they laid people off was cruel.

Thank you for your open and honest feedback - it's something we cherish at Topstep. You're correct: we do care about our team's well-being. And you're also correct: right-sizing our headcount (for the sake of accuracy, we had to say goodbye to 9 teammates, not 12) while working remotely was one of the hardest things I've ever done. I tried to do it with empathy and understanding. I hope you can appreciate my accountability is the continued health and growth of Topstep, so saying goodbye was hard, but necessary. I believe Topstep is now better positioned to rebuild in this new, unchartered, post-COVID economy. Once again, I appreciate your post.

Pros

From the first conversation, I knew this was different. The interview process was thoughtful and respectful. Every person I talked to showed up as a real human being, not a corporate robot, and that set the tone for what working here has been like so far. The culture is genuinely collaborative. People are warm, helpful, and knowledgeable. Leadership recognized what I could bring to the table from the start and moved quickly to bring me on. It’s the kind of place where you feel seen and valued, not just like another hire filling a seat. I joined this year but I’m already excited about what I’ll be able to build here. The team leads with empathy and shows up for each other in ways I haven’t experienced everywhere. It feels good to be somewhere that actually operates the way they said they would in the interviews.

Cons

I’m still new, so I’m learning the systems and figuring out how everything connects. As a remote team, it takes some intentional effort to build relationships across departments, but people have been welcoming and helpful in getting me up to speed. No concerns so far, just the usual learning curve that comes with any new role.
