We do tend to focus our management on the worst performing stores, since that is where 90% of our problems come from. If a store is performing well, complying with our policies, as well as the laws, and regulations which govern our industry, we try to leave the manager alone to do their job without undue interference.
We prefer to hire from within when we have a team member ready to take on more responsibility. Being willing to move helps, since many times the available position is not in the same geographic area. Many of our Area Superviors started as Managers or CSR's, and one of our newest Regional Managers started with us as a bookkeeper.
We are proud of our history of granting raises annually to deserving team members. In 2015 the entire nation was still struggling to come out of a recession which began in 2008. While many companies froze wages, or reduced wages and benefits, we budgeted for raises every year. We would have liked to have done more during that period, but we are still proud to have been able to grant increases during a time when many companies were not.
