Pros
Nonprofit seems cool. If you are Christian, there are lots of opportunities to openly live out and practice your faith at this company. Building is pretty nice. Some teams are trying to adopt or already have adopted agile/scrum.
Cons
Very low pay for work field and being a Fortune 500 company. Under the illusion that the pay-grade is good because of the area when the area itself underpays. Then management complains that they can't get good workers in IT or get good workers to stay. Technology within IT is rather outdated. People are predominately local college grads. Not much diversity. Very male dominated upper management. Very much into the "Thrivent way" and have a closed mind to change and are slow to adapt to new practices, risks, and technologies. CIO doesn't sit under the CEO when the company's whole existence is reliant on the IT systems.
