Pros

I was a staffer, not an attorney. I enjoyed most of my colleagues and some of the attorneys, when they spoke to me. The offices are impressive, and the pay and benefits were fair. The history and legacy of the firm made me proud to accept the job. The firm had decent operations and leadership in place during my tenure.

Cons

Young attorneys treat staffers like chattel, not as equals who can help their success. There must be a lot of pressure on them because they treat secretaries and paralegals horribly. Partners were much kinder. They would treat us with respect, like actual people. While I was there, there was a definite old boys club. BUT the old boys had manners. That could just be a generational thing, but they were gracious even though they earned 10 times what I did.

Pros

Was a top ten best place to work in Dallas for the 7 years I was there. I sat on many Committees and the partners were very dedicated to core values and diversity efforts. The staff was great, top to bottom. We had great MPs who probably worked too hard, but had an incredible impact. The COO had many big successes. We had top-40 profit growth.

Cons

Had some struggles with cyclical work and international growth. But I think that's par for a corporate law Firm. Firm put ethics first, so that was a short term economic drag with a long term pay off.
