Pros

Kind of luxury image in the industry

Cons

Long work hours Toxic work environment Not so talented managers ( They lie with straight face) The ship is bleeding money on shady projects. There is a struggle to spend money and you have to work so the manager get 5% from the value of each project and you get nothing. Poor safety culture. Very low morale of the crew. Performance review is not based on skills. If you have a complaint the management will send you home. The ship overall have a strange smell like old. The smart millionaire are selling their apartments and move to new and more sustainable projects. The people are coming and resigning in fast paces. The crew movement is like a train station.

Pros

Travel - lots of travel, and when you think you've had enough then you travel some more - it's a whirlwind of bright lights, big cities, remote and off the beaten track! Want to see whales/dolphins/jungles/underwater volcanoes - you can tick this box! A great community of interesting owners - business CEO's, company founders, inherited wealth and everything in between. Young, old and adventurous and lots of stories. Genuine affection for the crew and a real 'family' environment. Nice crew - international crew and lots of people with interesting resumes who are doing this 'for the travel'.... as social as you want it to be, there is always somebody up for going ashore! Lots of nights in port - 3 nights in Sydney over New Year - you got it. 4 nights in Cape Town - tick that box too..... if you have a position that you can get off the ship you will get to see more of places than you would on a normal cruise liner.

Cons

The flip side of the pros.... well there have to be reasons for the unusually high turnover that this company has. Once you secure a job on a ship travelling the world with lovely people onboard you would think people would never want to leave? Wrong. Sadly they experience unusually high turnover - the great people leave by their own volition as they realise it is not what they expect and many people onboard and in 'HQ' are fired in a 'here today, gone tomorrow' scenario with no reason. And don't ask why.... it's classified. But don't worry,. there's always that person the CEO worked with before who just happens to be ready and available to slot right in..... In 2015 new management inherited a successful, well operated ship and have since broken everything that was working! It's gone from great to a badly run 'cruise ship. 2 years since the new management took over staff morale is very low, turnover is high, favouritism is at an all time high and lots of people (old friends and colleagues) are being slotted into jobs that they don't have the skills for. The result: a 'luxury product' being run by people who don't have luxury experience. Owners are unhappy and the crew onboard are on the front line dealing with their frustration as the people responsible remain safely behind their desks in HQ. No support. This is the epitome of 'yesterday you were a candidate, today you are the employee' situation - you watch people join the ship full of enthusiasm and then see them realise that it is very disorganised with poor management and unhappy crew and see the look of disappointment slowly replace the enthusiasm they arrived with when they face the reality. HR is very unprofessional - has no discretion and cannot be trusted with anything; well known within the company if you want people to know a secret tell the HR leader.
