Pros

The people - most of the employees are young, eager and energetic professionals that wants to break into the entertainment industry. The atmosphere of the work environment was very laid-back, despite deadline pressures everyday.

Cons

*note: this only applies to the 3D stereoscopic department. I can't say for the other departments of TWR. poor management - miscalculated overtime pay due to technical difficulties with the clocking machine, which some employees were never compensated before/after they were laid-off. I had an inquiry regarding my salary and overtime pay once and after communicating with the receptionist through phone calls and emails for about a month, I still haven't received a clear answer - that is until I went to the marketing director (whom I befriended) to ask personally. Unstable employment. This company had a mass lay off (more than half of the employees in my department were cut) after a completion of a project. Low pay. Base salary was NT20000/month, a little less than the minimum wage job in Taiwan, even though it was a job that required an artist background.

Pros

Flexible work schedule. Coming in to work any time before 1pm is okay. However, the company uses it as a strategy or an excuse to get people work overtime.

Cons

First, like I said, they make you work for extremely long time for a super fast pace Chinese tv show. We finished 58 episodes within two months and didn't get to take break on weekends for TWO MONTHS STRAIGHT. Second, the company's main business is their conversion technique from 2D version to Sterio Scopic platform, which is what they truly care. The VFX department has very limited resource regarding staff training, pipeline tools, and hardware/software requires to get the work done. Sometimes it was just difficult to work because all serves are down or the software licenses are missing. The HR has used her power to stop people from leaving the company but it just wouldn't happen. It has lost its 10 employers last month and another 10 will leave this months. The recruiting process has become not so selective ever since because the HR tried to make up the short handed situation. But still, the company size is shrinking and falling apart.
