Pros

As a Case Manager it was easy to work with the different departments in order to coordinate services for clients. Most Case Managers had their own office. Being on-site, where the client resides makes a big difference. Helps provide a better service and understanding of client's situation and context.

Cons

The administration often seemed more concerned with finances than with the client's well-being. There was much attention payed to the image of the organization on the outside and it often did not match the work on the inside. There was very little training and continuing education for staff. The Director was known for yelling at staff when reprimanding them.

Pros

My direct supervisor was great. Treated me like a human, was flexible with my schedule as needed, open to feedback, and spent quality time assisting me with issues I had. My co-workers were amazing and passionate.

Cons

LEADERSHIP. Lack of communication (don't expect an email response from leaders until you re-send it at least 3 times). It feels like they don't actually care about improving anything for their staff and then complain about the turnover. When we did the annual survey, many people expressed psychological distress working there. At the All Staff meeting to review the results, they implied we were stupid and didn't understand the question. Many of us did indeed experience psychological distress. Leadership is condescending, demeaning, and threatening. I never felt comfortable talking with anyone other than my direct supervisor because I feared retaliation. I worked in the office, but whenever I did see program staff interacting with clients, it was usually not positive. The two programs leaders usually had an attitude with the clients and while I understand it is really difficult work, there was a lack of compassion from my perspective.
