Two years into this job, I knew I would retire from The Conservancy. 27 years later, I'm on the cusp. I feel like I've made a real difference in my state and globally. Almost 100,000 acres conserved locally, and chances to work in South and Central America.
Cons
Expect to log some long hours when required. But we only have a 35 hour work week, so given the compensation, you expect to "do what it takes" to get the job done.

Pros
Mission is awesome.
Great work-life balance.
Cons
Prioritizes comfort over continuous improvement.
Very bureaucratic and slow.
Incredibly sensitive culture to a point of extremity--don't think you're in a safe space or that you can be open with any communication. Someone will be offended by your honesty and the backlash is yours to manage. They prefer people to just go with the flow even if it's painful, inefficient, etc.
