Many unique, exciting and positive things about working here; but the high turnover should not be easily dismissed - Anonymous employee The Nature Conservancy Employee Review

Pros

Every person works really hard and is totally vested in doing something positive and constructive to preserve the natural environment. It feels like you're really contributing to a worthwhile cause no matter what your role.

Cons

You have to be able to deal with chaos. The turnover is unbelievable which leaves few people that can help a new employee learn the lay of the land. They talk a 35 hour week and flexible schedules, but for many this does not approximate reality. Employees are geographically dispersed, and although they do a terrific job of providing opportunities to bring people together, it is a difficult environment to manage and to adapt to.

Pros

Mission is awesome. Great work-life balance.

Cons

Prioritizes comfort over continuous improvement. Very bureaucratic and slow. Incredibly sensitive culture to a point of extremity--don't think you're in a safe space or that you can be open with any communication. Someone will be offended by your honesty and the backlash is yours to manage. They prefer people to just go with the flow even if it's painful, inefficient, etc.
