Pros
It's run out of a charming Brooklyn brownstone, which is quite charming. There's a beautiful dog who wanders around the office. There's rarely more than 12 people in the office at any one time (with many more out-of-office freelancers also working).
It's good for entry-level employees as long as 1) you're VERY smart, 2) excellent at writing, 3) maybe had some K-8 teaching experience , and 4) are great at both mathematics and language arts.
In general, you feel like the bosses care about you.
Benefits such as health care and 401(k) for long-term employees.
It's possible to freelance for this company (as a writer), which is nice for those who don't mind the lack of stability.
Cons
High stress. Bad deadlines. You're expected to stay late into the evening, night... sometimes during the weekend -- with no extra pay. The level of anxiety is often too much for many employees.
Unsure about the long-term stability of this company due to changes in the market.
