Pros

When you start, you’ll receive immediate praise for being “the best” which gives you an immediate boost of confidence and feeling of belonging. The team is mostly made up of awesome, talented and genuine people who consistently strive for excellence and you’ll create amazing working relationships as a result. The benefits are great, above average for a small business.

Cons

Ultimately there is only one negative to working at the Knowledge Coop, the owner/CEO. The minute you start asking questions about his decisions he’ll shut you out, accuse you of not being on his team, treat you like you suck at your job (without really knowing your actual responsibilities), and talk behind your back. He creates an unhealthy work environment but is the first to blame everyone else. There is a reason why nobody stays employed for an extended period of time and also why most employees who leave do not stay on good terms with the owner. Those reporting directly to the owner receive little to no direction on project work, no coaching, and no support. People leave the company and the owner expects someone else to happily pick up the additional workload rather than rehiring or making a product adjustment.

Pros

The company has made a lot of positive changes over the past two years, improving processes, expectations, and overall quality. There is healthy pressure to keep getting better, and leadership seems committed to moving the company in a stronger direction since taking the helm a couple years ago. There are still growing pains as the company moves out of startup mode, but that is expected. The people are kind, professional, personable, and fun to work with. Leadership also does a good job creating opportunities for the team to connect through parties, celebrations, and other activities.

Cons

Things change pretty often as the company grows, so you have to stay on top of new processes. There is a lot going on, and some days can feel like a lot. You need to be ready to learn, ask questions, and keep improving. The good thing is that people are supportive and willing to help, so you do not feel like you are figuring it all out alone.

Pros

Knowledge Coop is inclusive and does a great job of supporting and nurturing people who are genuinely dedicated, curious and kind. The environment is fun, collaborative and lively. Leadership and management take employee feedback seriously and work alongside teams to continuously improve and refine our policies and processes. I feel well supported by my manager and this culture of support is a reflection of how the executives lead the company. As odd as it may sound to some, I love spending time with my coworkers. I applaud every single employee for their contribution to the culture and for making Knowledge Coop what it is today!

Cons

In my experience, there really aren’t any cons. As with any company, issues do come up but none that are worth mentioning as they are resolved fairly quickly.
