      The Forward has 125 years of storied history, great reporters, and offers a rich company and community history and culture.

      Cons

      Some executive management is incompetent, not forthcoming, openly hostile to their subordinates, and make parts of the work culture incredibly toxic

      Pros

      Once you establish yourself with the editors, it is easy to pitch and they give you a lot of leeway.

      Cons

      Freelance writing is never well paid, but considering the size of the publication, their payrates are not bad. I do sometimes wish there was more support and feedback from editors.
