Pros

None. This is easily the worst organization I have ever worked for. Poor leadership, lack of structure, inconsistent processes, and zero focus on employee growth or well-being make it a frustrating place to work. I would not recommend it to anyone looking for a stable or professional work environment.

Cons

Working at The Functionary was one of the most frustrating professional experiences I've had. The company projects itself as a modern remote-first organization, but internally it feels completely disorganized and unsupportive. There is little to no proper onboarding or guidance. You're expected to figure everything out yourself, and asking for clarity often gets you nowhere. Employees are regularly assigned ad hoc tasks that have nothing to do with their skills or job descriptions, making it difficult to produce quality work or grow professionally. Leadership lacks direction. The marketing function, in particular, appears to depend heavily on external agencies and consultants. Remote employees from India often feel like second-class team members, with limited consideration given to their concerns, working conditions, or career development. The CEO/Founder seems disconnected from remote employees and makes little effort to understand their challenges or gather feedback before important decisions are made. Salary processing is inconsistent and often delayed, creating unnecessary stress for employees. Despite being full-time employees, people are treated like freelancers and are expected to manually create Excel-based invoices and upload them through a Google Form every month. It's an outdated and unprofessional process. There is no proper HRMS platform, making basic HR processes unnecessarily complicated. Remote employees receive virtually no HR engagement or employee welfare initiatives. There are no local holidays for remote employees, and new hires are expected to follow only US holidays until completing one year with the company. Job security is practically nonexistent. Employees are constantly under pressure during the first 90 days and can be removed with little warning, making the probation period feel like a revolving door rather than an evaluation period. Even after termination, there is minimal HR support for final settlement or post-employment formalities. Ironically, the company expects employees to follow strict deadlines while failing to consistently follow its own salary disbursement timelines. Overall, the culture feels reactive rather than strategic, processes are poorly defined, and employees are treated as expendable resources instead of valued contributors. If you're looking for mentorship, stability, transparent communication, or a structured remote work environment, this is unlikely to be the right place.

Pros

All the teams are always willing to help. Whenever you need assistance, you are supported by the leadership team. Also, the remote work is so relaxing! I don´t have to move through the chaos of the city, I feel listened by my superiors and, once again always supported even for personal or health matters. I feel I even made some good friends among the team. I love that the team is also from several countries. I get to learn a lot from them. Love the diversity!

Cons

I´ve been a year with the company and I felt supported all the time. I haven´t found cons. Good environment.
