Pros

Incredibly rewarding work. Flexible work hours and remote work possible (and pretty standard for most positions). Great benefits (employer pays all healthcare premiums, employer contributes a set amount to retirement plans, 3 weeks paid vacation, cell phone reimbursement, 5 weeks paid maternity/paternity leave, professional development, etc.). Salaries, even for entry-level employees, are comparable (if not high) for the non-profit sector. Internships are paid. Increasingly diverse workplace (majority of employees are now women). People at the organization are friendly and generally committed to dealing with problems and issues rather than ignoring them.

Cons

Rapidly growing organization, and operational and management systems are lagging behind that growth. Different positions and different programs have varying opportunities for career advancement and growth. Non-profit status means programs, positions, and advancement is often contingent on uncertain funding sources.

Pros

Employees are very highly respected and can speak their mind. Changes and new ideas are always welcome. Raises every year, and a lot of opportunity to move up and a small same-across-the-board bonuses at the end of the year. The ideas the Collaborative works with are amazing and it's a place you can really work for a very long time. Really purposeful work and amazing people. Super flexible work hours with option to work from home if not feeling well or if it makes sense. This could all be a bit different since I started very early on when there was less than 5 people on staff and now there are 25+.

Cons

A bit of nepotism since it's a small organization. Not always practicing what they preach, but always looking to progress.
