Pros

I was really proud to work for The David Project and miss working there every day. I felt supported and encouraged by my managers to do my best work and put my best foot forward, and found a community of hard-working and bright colleagues who I count among my closest friends to this day. You'd be hard-pressed to find an organization like this that openly encourages its employees to take risks, create, and lead. Most importantly, I felt trusted by the people I worked with, and trusted that senior management was making the right decisions, even if they were hard decisions. At the same time, I felt like I was treated as an equal by my supervisors. I grew so much as a person and professional, and am so thankful to have had such wonderful mentorship and exposure to the most incredible people I know.

Cons

I'm hard-pressed to find many negatives in my experience. Of course, you have to understand what your job entails - travel, occasionally working weekends - but it's really up to you to find a work-life balance that works for you. Truthfully, I never found it to be burdensome because I really enjoyed what I was doing.

Pros

Sadly, I'm hard pressed for pros about the position that do not involve the students themselves, who I could have worked with via any other organization or Hillel directly.

Cons

All of my thoughts for positive experience have since been removed from the organization. Those who were brilliant, hard-working, true Zionists, creative, and the heart of the organization now serve the community through other roles. Following a number of mission realignments I think they have the right idea but poor execution. There was a serious division between staff when I was an employee, and the people who remained after me were those with the least knowledge about Israel, the most contempt for the organizational history as Zionist, and a childish outlook on life. I was totally disturbed by the actions of my previous supervisor which could have easily been legally acted against, and the HR decisions to both protect and promote him. Be weary, he is a snake and will put himself before the mission, vision, and organization.
