Pros
- Over 25 years at company and have met a lot of great, smart people across the country - 20÷ years of work at home (which is now changing - see cons) - Variety of projects and opportunities
Cons
A new initiative that revokes thousands of workers remote work status and is forcing people back into an office, even those who have worked successfully at home for decades. There is no clear reason for this, and examples frequently given are so that "you can grab coffee with someone" or "go to lunch and take a walk." Our teams and matrix partners are spread out all over the country, which I love. Placing people in a random office is not bringing people together who actually work together. There's also not enough real estate to actually make everyone go in an office, so there's a designation for "in office interim work at home" which is even more confusing than the initiative itself. People on the same teams with the same roles are being given different designations, which is causing confusion and anger. Why are some being forced in office while others get to continue "interim WAH" The initiative has no clear objective, other than we need to make in person friends at work regardless of whether we actually work together on anything, and has a very ambitious interim work at home status. This will limit job opportunities and growth as all new postings will now have to be aligned to certain offices instead of remote.
