Pros

Overall decent benefits and flexible work even if you are not part of the elite.

Cons

The main problem is the massive number of servile followers supporting the current leadership. Countless directors are responsible for the poor results of the institute, many of them are extremely territorial and they are constantly failing to achieve their objectives, in a normal organisation half of them would be fired immediately. Their ego and constant interference is stopping any organisational improvement. Their generous salaries and pension benefits could be used to restore 20 Aldermanbury instead of selling the building and all the belongings just to ring-fence their generous pension fund. Everything is outsourced to incompetent contractors while it's very difficult to grow internally and so many talented people are leaving. Is there a future for an organisation like this ? Behind the scenes the CII is slowly crumbling away, the PR machine won't be able to hide the real state of the Institute forever.

Pros

A genuinely people-first organisation that walks the talk on culture. The BEST Values programme is not just a poster on the wall, it's being actively embedded across the business with real investment and leadership buy-in, including direct CEO engagement. There's strong opportunity to do meaningful, strategic work and real visibility at senior levels. The People & Culture team is a brilliant, collaborative group who support each other and deliver at pace. Flexible working, a commitment to learning and development, and a culture that is actively evolving make this a great place to grow.

Cons

Like many organisations going through culture change, ways of working and structures are still catching up with ambition. Can be fast-paced with a lot happening simultaneously and great if you thrive in that environment, but worth knowing going in.

Pros

It is very rewarding to work in an organisation driven by a public value model. Majority of colleagues are lovely and genuinely passionate about their work. There is some exceptional expertise and industry knowledge around the organisation. Huge amounts of flexibility built into the working culture. With a little bit of proactivity/ambition/passion/curiousity, there are a lot of ways at the CII to build your skills and your career, be it projects, groups, training opportunities or anything else. Gorgeous new office in Liverpool Street!

Cons

The organisation is very much evolving and modernising (this is a "pro") with better tech, new office and other improvements BUT this does make some colleagues feel unsettled, and some projects can take a little longer than initially expected. Some teams and managers are more solutions oriented than others.
