Pros

Working from home is nice.

Cons

Just look on the website and see how long Program Managers have been employed. (Not even a year). Also, the "good reviews" were written by the SAME person lol just different years! [and office staff]. Staff meetings are brutal, you sit there for hours, no breaks and same seats for lunch. Virtual is just as awful, virtual staff meetings go on for HOURS because Management doesn't understand "Time Management". Everyone looks sad and no one wants to ask a question. You are summoned to Johnstown with little notice, they don't care if you have a life, plans, etc. Only two people in the company have children and they are grown. If you have little kids you will not get hired - but that's ok, you don't want to work here anyway. Old school thinking and management style doesn't work in today's world which is clearly evident by the INSANE turnover! Micromanagement is their mantra. You are not allowed to have an outside job or activity unless you are a favorite. One employee was not allowed to be a volunteer ELF in her community during Christmas, but others can be in bands and own/work at a construction company. She forbade a former employee to coach his child's sport activity. He did it anyway and never missed work because of it. There is no HR so if the president wants to talk about your personal business to everyone, she certainly can and will! She will call on Teams or the phone and will not tell you who else is in the room with her. It's all so shady. With practices like this it is amazing that this company survived as long as it did. Every time a person left she would say awful things about why they left but never looked in the mirror to see that she was the reason. It's actually sad. I am just thankful that I am no longer there and feel sorry for those who are still there and want to leave. And don't get me started with the actual IMPOSSIBLE job description! ha ha haI won't even go there! You still wanna work here? Fine. Don't say I didn't warn you!

Pros

I’ve been The Challenge Program for two years now. It really has been a stellar experience and I’ve gained an immense amount of knowledge. I really appreciate the amazing team here and we hold together a very strong and positive work environment alongside very welcoming and accepting environment for all current and new employees.

Cons

Being a nonprofit, sometimes the pay is not hyper competitive with people in similar positions, and the public sector in the same vein. Sometimes the workload can be a bit heavy because it does require a certain level of passion and drive to handle.
