Pros
The clothes are amazing! Most of the associates are really fun people to be around
Cons
Complete lack of training. Management is so busy micromanaging the sales team to properly train new hires. Asking questions seems to annoy management. You are expected to check out guests with no training on the cash register in front of the guests. You are also expected to show product to customers before even taking a tour of the store. Management asks too much from employees considering the base pay of $6 an hour. Commission is only good when it's a busy season, so plan on making $7-8 an hour most of the time and still be expected to perform the work of 5 people. While assisting multiple guests, associates are required to log how many items were shown to each guest and make a check list to account for time with guests. This not only looks tacky on the sales floor, but it is insulting to ask for such detailed accounting of our time. Associates are asked to be way too pushy to guests and The Buckle is getting a bad rep because of it. I have talked to lots of people who say they won't even step in the door because they feel they have entered a used car lot full of greedy salespeople. The team is not greedy, but just pushed too hard by management to sell and are underpaid for their effort.
