Pros

Paid on commission: 4% of all sales made go to you. The base rate of pay is low, but when a pair of jeans costs 100 dollars, there's no reason you shouldn't be able to make 8 dollars an hour during the slowest of times, and up to 14 dollars an hour during busy times like holidays. On average, I'd say I made between 10 and 11 dollars an hour, which was way better than other retail jobs in the area. Challenging: I've had friends who worked at Hollister, American Eagle, and other stores, and one of the most frequent complaints I've heard is that you don't do anything while working there, it's just a lot of folding and greeting with company crafted phrases. This is the opposite of the case at the Buckle. You are expected to be active and involved in everything, and that largely means that you will really be SELLING. You know, like a sales associate actually would. It really helps long shifts go by quickly, and for people like myself who hate idle jobs, it's a good fit. Discount: I would be amiss if I didn't mention the 40% discount. It is truly a good and an evil. You are expected to dress like you shop at the Buckle when working. Even if a strict dress code isn't really enforced, it is expected. The discount obviously helps offset this expectation, and presumably people working at a clothing store would like clothes in the first place. My advice is to set a limit on what you can spend in store from each paycheck, otherwise you might not find yourself making much money, discount or not.

Cons

Much is expected: The Buckle has massive turn over rates for a reason: it isn't the typically high-school student mall job. There are several dozen styles of jeans for guys and girls, and you are expected to know them all and be able to really sell. Admittedly, I liked the fact that I was expected to be knowledgeable about my job, and in the end it made me a far more skilled worker, but a lot of people don't expect the quantity of responsibility that comes with a job at the Buckle.

Cons

Micro management They make you show minimum of 3 jeans 3 shoes and have you keep adding items in the fitting rooms They make you shove clothes at customers Customers are greeted multiple times A very pushy sales environment fast paced no training. Their online sales are going to grow because customers aren't going to want to shop in store because of the pushy sales tatic.
