Pros

You can make a lot of money if you are willing to hustle. The Buckle is well known for customer service so it can open a lot of doors to other places. You meet a lot of really amazing people.

Cons

In the current economy Buckle is struggling. Their competitive advantage has always been customer service which is great for people in their 40's and 50's because that age demographic loves that however the younger generation in their twenties and thirties hate it. Buckle is struggling to keep up with the ever changing retail environment and that is apparent by how hard they are pushing sales. Stores aren't growing and they are starting to panic which in turn makes upper management lash out at managers and teammates for not "growing" when in actuality very few retailers are currently growing right now especially brick and mortar retailers. With that being said if you are looking for a part time job to get you through school and are willing to work hard this is a great job with very flexible hours but be prepared to work most weekends unless you ask off for weekends. However, if you are looking for a full time career I would look elsewhere, with Buckle not being able to keep up with the market job security will become weaker and weaker.

Pros

-Good work-life balance. -Team-building is encouraged. -The experience can vary by location. -Buckle has the potential to have some of the best retail teams, depending on the store. -There are opportunities for growth and career advancement for employees who have supportive leadership.

Cons

Management's willingness to lead, communicate effectively, and support employees is what creates opportunities for growth, but that was not my experience at this location. I felt the work environment was negatively affected by inconsistent communication, a leadership style that felt overly controlling, and discussions about employees that appeared to undermine teamwork and trust. I believe a more respectful, supportive, and collaborative approach to leadership would create a healthier workplace culture and better support both employees and the overall success of the store.
