Pros

This organization has strong, empathetic leadership and is committed to its people. Many of the current managers have been with the company for over a decade (some over two decades!) and have enthusiastically worked their way up through the ranks. There is quite a bit of loyalty and camaraderie here and most seem to truly enjoy their roles within the company and within the community. As is true anywhere, there's always room to develop programs and make improvements and the company has shown a strong commitment to doing just that. I'd definitely recommend the company as a great place to work.

Cons

As is the experience of most companies, we, too, have a fair bit of turnover in our more entry-level roles. This is combatted heavily with training/cross-training, grant-certificate training, and leadership development opportunities so those who are motivated to do well and advance have many opportunities to do so.

Pros

- Discounted AB products and promotional materials.

Cons

- Antiquated top to bottom. Outdated computer systems, management stuck in the 90's, office itself is falling apart. - Pay, regardless of position, is absolute rock bottom for the industry. No company cars for sales, and terrible commissions. Expect to make half of what your competition does. - Awful treatment of customers. Sells out of season products to customers, makes it near impossible for them to return. Ask customers in their territory, if they had any other choice, they would take it. Many have dropped the AB brand altogether to avoid them. - Condescending and moody management. Unprofessional approach to coaching, discipline, and generally abysmal treatment of employees. Asks for specific goal, then when accomplished, acts as though they never asked for it in the first place or its still somehow "wrong". - Awful budgeting. Basic necessities for departments have to be fought for tooth and nail. - Living in Anderson, IN. If you haven't been here, its not a good place to live. Blight everywhere, terrible schools, and below state averages in nearly ever quality of life category (check out CityData if you want more details). - Vacation, compensation, and benefits package are way below the norm for virtually any industry. Part time retail has better benefits. - Employees routinely assigned to "personal" projects outside of the scope of the company's functions. Expected to work off the clock for these (I didn't, but others have).
