Pros

This is a bad employer who will not pay you.

Cons

Everything --- they want your ideas, but not the bill they result in. Be warned: they will NOT PAY YOU.

This individual was hired to be a contractor for a brief project at Terminal 49 but was never an employee. They overinflated their credentials, implying much more experience and higher quality of work than they actually produced. The first draft of their project was of such poor quality and so far off scope that we immediately canceled the engagement and did not use any of their work whatsoever. We did not pay as the terms of the contract were never fulfilled.

Pros

Terminal49 has been far and away the best company i've worked at. Every day we're solving very real world logistics problems for our customers. The leadership is transparent, everyone pulls together as a team, and every team member is given ownership of their work. Speaking of the team, this is one of the few places i've worked where I like working with everyone and everyone here brings their best. It really makes it more enjoyable to 'come in' to work every day. Working remotely and being evaluated on the output means enjoying a lot of flexibility with arranging home life day to day. Revenue, customer count, and container volume are all growing and there is good energy to keep it up.

Cons

It's a startup, there's a lot of that larger company process which is still being worked out and not there yet. I would not recommend Terminal49 if you're not comfortable taking initiative to make progress whenever necessary.

Pros

Working on a small team allows me to directly see my value and impact. My ideas are supported and constructively challenged. As a team, we are able to align together to accomplish significant achievements. The team is made up of brilliant, high achievers who are a joy to work with. (Shout out to Matt's vocabulary and communication style.) Leadership prioritizes the health and longevity of each individual member. Vacations are encouraged, work is entirely remote... we even meditate before meetings. Akshay provides immediate feedback and makes himself readily available for any support I might need. I also personally believe there is nothing he can't do. Incredibly talented that one. In short: People are held to high standards, but we are given all of the assistance and resources required to achieve those results.

Cons

The flip side of the above is that working on a small team means there is always more to do. In the cases where I need to learn something new, my learning curve is met with patience, but it comes at the cost of time. Something I often feel short of.
