Pros

-xbox is the main client so it looks good on a resume and in a portfolio to spend a year or two fresh out of school -fully remote work options -understanding when life needs to take priority over work

Cons

-not much variety outside of microsoft brands -compensation is not annually adjusted for inflation/cost of living -raises are sporadic and substandard -benefits package is minimal (you will pay a lot of money to add a spouse or dependents), medical coverage isn't great, dental coverage is next to useless, vision is ok, 401k match is a little below industry standard, dont get sucked in by promises of "profit sharing"--it's not much money -reviews are subjective whims and negative marks follow you for years -leadership is under experienced at being in leadership positions -bullying and harassment of staff by leadership is accepted all the way to the top -sexism, ableism, racism, ageism are all abundant -very corporate feel instead of creative -a lot of the work is production focused rather than creative -unwilling to listen to staff feedback and implement real change

Pros

The projects are pretty fun and you get to work on some really cool IP with industry-leading titles and software. The team is super competent and worth their salt. I found myself learning a lot from the FTEs. The pay is really fair and competitive for the market rate due to the clients they work with.

Cons

Clients can be difficult to work with as there are many layers of red tape that have to be cut through and sometimes multi-international timezones for feedback. When the workload is good, it can be almost dizzying the amount of pieces need to be output and revised. File management is OK but could be improved upon a bit (OneDrive can be a headache). Workload can go from 100-0 almost overnight depending on the time of year and client budget.
