Pros

-When I first joined they had 2 in-house chefs and all meals were provided. -The HQ is conveniently located off the brown line. -There are some genuinely good people, most of whom were tricked into accepting jobs here

Cons

Where to begin? This place is pure chaos and not in the fun innocent way you see portrayed on TV. Poor planning and ever-changing whims by David the CEO lead to most people spending several days a week putting out fires. Making matters worse, he's the walking definition of an energy vampire who doesn't respect other people's time which makes working here exponentially harder than need be. Prepare to roll your eyes plenty if you end up working here or reporting under David's side of the org. And note that Ian the COO isn't any better since he's just as terrified of David as everyone else who works here. What else? The hours are extremely long and aside from a few lucky remote engineers, this is very much a butts-in-seats culture. David prefers to manage by time and place so don't get your hopes up about working from home or outside of the hours 8-6. He tries to justify this by recycling talking points from people who have actually built successful companies. Perhaps the worst thing about working here is that it is ruled by fear. Psychological safety has zero meaning at this company and if you question leadership then one of David or Ian's minions will likely report you.

First and foremost, I'm sorry for your experience at Telnyx. While there are elements of truth to your comments (i.e., I was pro in-office prior to COVID-19, along with many other tech leaders (some of whom remain so today)), it's clear that you have not been with the company for a while. Prior to COVID, we allowed for unscheduled WFH days as well as an open PTO policy. Today, the company is remote-first, and will continue to remain so regardless of what happens with COVID-19. No one is counting hours, though we continue to have high expectations of our team. We certainly don't try to motivate through fear, though I can see how it may have felt that way given the seriousness with which we take the mission-critical systems we build and support. Ultimately, it's my goal to promote a transparent and welcoming environment where employees feel empowered to contribute and speak up. I agree, things change at Telnyx constantly - at a rate that may suggest it's simply at a single person's whim - but it isn't. This is a complete team effort. The business and industry are competitive and ever-evolving and I am lucky to have a wonderful team in place around me. We will only be successful if we can continue to adapt quickly. I can only hope that remains the norm at Telnyx as we scale. I do admit that I am not perfect, but we all continue to learn, grow and improve. I'm thankful that we have so many veterans, including a good number of folks who have left, only to ultimately return.

Pros

Remote work, but there is no limit to what management keeps demanding, the nonstop changes forced on us, and the ridiculous expectations pushed every day.

Cons

Just like I said, management's demands never stop. Remote work becomes completely pointless because you are forced to go on-site almost all the time! It feels even more exhausting when you expect to stay home, then suddenly get dragged out and forced to report on-site.

We welcome honest feedback from current and former employees, including critical perspectives. However, we believe transparency matters, and this review contains multiple factual inconsistencies that prevent us from verifying it as originating from an actual employee experience. Telnyx has not employed a "Junior Security Operations Analyst" within our US operations, we do not operate an office in Austin, Texas, and employees in comparable roles are not required to work on-site as described. Our teams operate in a highly technical, fast-paced, and flexible environment with access to modern infrastructure, strong engineering resources, and remote collaboration tools. We remain focused on building a culture centered around ownership, impact, and continuous growth.
